Biographie

Cory DiBona is a musician with a diverse background.

Cory Scott can play Guitar (Classical, Jazz and Rock/Pop), Bass (Double and Electric), Piano (Classical, Jazz, Rock/Pop) and even Drums.  Mr. DiBona is an ASCAP composer and has had his works in movies, books and other media.  Cory began his formal musical training on double bass in the orchestra and continues to play bass today.  In high school he performed with Rock/Top 40 cover bands, studied music theory with Frank Hansen and attended BOCES Long Island High School for the Arts which earned him, a New York State Regents Diploma in Music.

  • After high school, Cory attended the Recording Engineers Institute where he earned a certificate in Audio Recording Technology from New York State and became the Studio Manager of Harbor Music Shoppe in Sag Harbor.  While manager he recorded, mixed and mastered artists and composers such as: Lukas Foss, Roy Scheider, Michael Guttman and David Dubal.  
  • After working in the recording industry Cory attended Suffolk Community College under the tutelage of professors Ralph Williams and James Erickson. With recommendations from both professors, Cory transferred to LIU Post and became a double major.  Mr. DiBona was a class marshal and graduated from LIU Post Summa Cum Laude with a B.S. in Music and a B.A. In Philosophy.  
  • While at C.W. Post he participated in almost every musical ensemble:

    • Jazz Combo
    • Chorus
    • Meriweather Consort (Period Renaissance Ensemble)
  • Cory was a member of the Philosophy Club and a member of Phi Sigma Tau the National Philosophy Honor Society.  
  • Cory has taught at many of the private music lesson studios on Long Island such as:  
    • School of Rock
    • The Rock Underground
    • The Piano Studio for Kids
    • Advantage Music
    • Fusion Academy
    • Grace Music and many others.  
  • Cory is a successful Mommy and Me, Party Planner and Early Childhood Creativity instructor.  With an exuberant amount of field work hours teaching Music, Art and Creativity he has helped pioneer the field of bringing joy to hearts and minds of children.
  • Currently, Mr. DiBona is performing with his band Jupiter Fell, is an Artist in Residence at the prestigious Knox School, and is pursuing a robust musical career composing and performing in a largely diverse capacity.
  • Recently, Cory was awarded a M.A. in Music Theory and Composition at LIU Post as a Graduate Assistant for both professors T.K. Blue and Harris Becker.  During this time:
    • Cory has directed Jazz Ensemble, Jazz Combo, Guitar Ensemble and Rock Ensemble.  
    • Taught and tutored college-level classes and students.
    • Performed in Master Classes with Andrew York, William Kanengiser, Raphaella Smits, James Moody, Rufus Reid and many others.
    • Was an integral part of LIU Post Jazz Day and the Long Island Guitar Festival.
